Andย she takes another step.
A step towards the gap.
The gap in the wall.
The wall of her prison.
The prison of her heart.
I’ve been nominated by afairymind over at Storyteller’s Abode to participate in the 5 Photos / 5 Storiesย Black and White Photo Challenge. She has been posting some great photos with some very compelling stories to accompany them and I’ve enjoyed reading along with her for the last 5 days. This is my first post for this 5 day challenge.
I have done a version of this challenge twice before (last year) and enjoyed it immensely. I accepted the challenge this time because I would like to spend some time writing something to go with the images. I started doing that a while ago, but things got busy and challenges came up so I stopped.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this. I’d like to invite my fellow photography buddy to join me in this challenge – Lucile at Bridging Lacunas. Lucile also hosts the Photo101 Rehab Clinic, which is such a cool place to share your work, please check it out if you haven’t already ๐
The rules of the 5 Photos-5 Stories challenge are:
1) To post a photo every day for 5 days
2) To write a story to accompany your photo for 5 days (this can be fiction or non-fiction, a page, a paragraph or a poem)
3) To nominate a different person each day
Some information on this photo. I took this photo on my last day of my first trip to the UK. I spent a couple of hours at Windsor Castle before my late night flight home. It was a long day and a sad one, I really didn’t want to leave, I fell in love with England, it just felt like home to me. What a gorgeous place to spend two weeks.
And a quick note on the words. I wanted to use song lyrics as inspiration. The first line (And she takes another step) is the first line of a song called “Two Beds and a Coffee Machine” by Brisbane band, Savage Garden. I love this song, it’s beautiful and poetic.
I took this photo with my Olympus OMD EM5 camera, with the 17mm macro lens (35mm equivalent) at f/8.0, 1/125s and ISO400. I had two weeks of glorious weather while I was there but this last day it started to rain. I like to think that the country knew I was leaving and was sad too. Silly, aren’t I?!
