I was originally thinking that the best intricacies would be in nature and that might be true, but I was able to find some wonderful man-made intricacies while visiting a temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
It’s a beautiful place, but the juxtaposition between the rich and the poor is quite confronting.
To visit this temple, we were herded into an elevator that took us uphill to the gold-plated temples at the top. There were so many people, locals and tourists alike. We decided not to wait for the elevator to go back down but instead took the very long flight of stairs, the handrail of which is the curving backs of a group of dragons.
I took these photos at the bottom of the stairs, with the dragon heads.
