Intricate Design

I was originally thinking that the best intricacies would be in nature and that might be true, but I was able to find some wonderful man-made intricacies while visiting a temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

It’s a beautiful place, but the juxtaposition between the rich and the poor is quite confronting.

To visit this temple, we were herded into an elevator that took us uphill to the gold-plated temples at the top. There were so many people, locals and tourists alike. We decided not to wait for the elevator to go back down but instead took the very long flight of stairs, the handrail of which is the curving backs of a group of dragons.

I took these photos at the bottom of the stairs, with the dragon heads.

These photos are for this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge – Intricate.

Some beautiful intricacies there. And although I haven’t been to Thailand I encountered the juxtaposition of rich and poor in Beijing and also found it to be confronting.

I’ve never been to Asia yet but it’s a place that is truly enchanting to me. Your Thailand pics capture Intricate design in a way that makes me want to see it firsthand: )

Thanks Lia. It was amazing. These pics are just the tip of the iceberg. The temples themselves were absolutely fantastic. Well worth a visit.
