One Photo Focus – June

It’s time for Stacy’s AB Friday’s One Photo Focus again. I’ve skipped this event the last few months because I’ve been away quite often.

This month marks the one-year anniversary of AB Friday and the 6 months anniversary of One Photo Focus – so congrats to Stacy! This month she is providing the photo for us and there is a lot to work with in the image.

Here are the before and after shots:

I went harsh on the crop because I wanted to remove the partial fence and the soil on the lawn, but also because I really like the tower. I feel like you can maybe imagine a figure in the front window on the tower.

Then I thought I’d play around ImageReboot-style and here’s what I came up with:

After - Extreme
After – Extreme

Thanks again to Stacy for organising this event, it’s good fun, and quite challenging. I can’t wait to see what others come up with – drop by and have a look here. I’m hoping someone with more skills than me can turn this into a haunted house, complete with ghostly figures at the window ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was thinking about participating this week. I even downloaded the RAW file and started editing it last night, but I realized that I had (still have) too many things to do and too little time. Maybe next time..
I like your edit of the photo and the idea of a haunted house is cool .

Yes. Yesterday we had a family dinner, then I had to go to the pharmacy to get some pollen medicines for my son. We came home late and then I had to put him to bed and do the laundry after plus some other stuff after that… There’s just not enough hours in the day.

Yes, it was. When I sat down to edit the photo late in the evening, I thought to myself: “I’m too tired to do anything now”, so I shut the computer down and went to bed (a wise decision).
Now I have this huge bunch of clean clothes that needs to be folded!
(Hmmm….. I think need a new woman in my life. Someone who likes to fold clothes.) ๐Ÿ˜€

I like the crop of just the fence. Such a great idea wish I had it. Your edit on the house was great too.

I like the idea of cropping the image just for the top section, something I never would have thought of. The black and white works perfectly here as well.really nice editing.

Thank you Ben, much appreciated. I didn’t notice the fairy lights until I cropped in.

I like the detail in the crop of the tower. The crop of the fence is rather interesting and mysterious, and I like the stark black and white of it. Nice job. ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay, so fairy lights? I didn’t see them! Nor did I think about cropping out the dirt piles (which I like to call garden plots ๐Ÿ˜‰) And, like Max said, it never occurred to me to try an aggressive crop. So much fun to learn what others “see”! Great edits, Desley, and the new compositions are well-suited for black and white. Thanks for once again bringing your creativity to 1PF!

Great job. I agree the house looks almost haunted and when I was working on it, thought the same thing, that there should have been a figure in the tower window! ๐Ÿ™‚
