I posted recently some shots of sunset over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. After the sun had set, I left that location andย decided to try another spot thatย my friend at work had suggested – Milson’s Point. On the way there, I drove past a stunning view so I pulled into a serendipitous carpark and ran across the road to get some shots. This one is not a fabulous shot but it’s a 15 second exposure and I didn’t have a tripod so I was just resting my camera on a fencepost. Shortly after I arrived, a bunch of photographers turned up with their tripods and started shooting, accidentally kicking the fence as they set up on the very narrow footpath ๐
I then headed down to Milson’s Point. I’ve never been there before and I was rewarded with finding myself underneath the bridge. Everything is lit up for Vivid Sydney – an 18-day festival which lights up the city and fills it with music and also hosts presentations and workshops by some of the country’s most innovative thinkers. I had completely forgotten that the festival was on. If I had remembered, I might have tried to stay a few days longer and attended some of those events. As it was, this was a quick shoot before I had to run to the airport for my flight home.
Anyway, I was able to have some fun getting shots from Milson’s Point – shots of Luna Park, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and the city herself.
It’s a great city, isn’t it? These photos were all taken handheld, or resting on something, with wide aperture and slow shutter speeds as it was very dark. All were edited in Lightroom. My Olympus OMD EM5 camera, of course ๐
It was quite serendipitous that I had this post scheduled for Monday but this morning I saw the Weekly Photo Challenge prompt was Vivid so I thought it was kinda perfect to post this today instead. You should check out the guest prompter Lignum Draco who actually lives in Sydney and has been able to get some amazing shots of this very cool festival.
I’m also submitting these photos to Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic – come and visit, it’s always visiting hours.
