Pop Art Cactus

IMG_4791-0When I was out doing Gidget’s Photo Shoot in my garden, I took a few shots of some potted cactus and decided to have a little play with them in LightRoom. In the next ImageReboot post, I will be talking about White Balance for the first time, and I’ve spent quite a bit of time experimenting with this in LightRoom. These images were created by adjusting the white balance (temperature and tint) of a single image. You can find out more in the next ImageReboot.

This is a single image, taken with my Olympus OMD EM5 with my 60mm (120mm equivalent) lens at f/4.0 and 1/250th of a second – fairly standard settings. I am adding these photos to Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic – click on through and take a look at some great posts.

Here is the original image, which I actually quite like as is. I find cactus are quite fascinating – such interesting colours and textures. I think this one looks a little like octopus tentacles!

I’m new to post-processing, so I’m avid for these posts. I really like seeing before and after too, so I know what you were working with. I’m going to have to make a serious decision soon: learn Polish or play with such things as Light Room. Duty v pleasure! Which will win? Your posts are tilting the balance.

So cool, DJ. Reminds me if Andy Warhol in a way. I think just the same shots together in different colors like he did sometimes. Love the use of color and the four different shots look fantastic together.

Well, that explains it, then! They are certainly reminscient of Warhol, but they also have their own unique flair, which I love.

Great composition DJ love how you have focused on the central spike gives a real 3d effect and the varying colours really compliment each other. I winner here you should frame the 4 of them together
