Morning Bugs

This little bug is about a centimetre long and the little fly is about 3mm long.

Taken with my Olympus OMD EM5 with the 60mm macro lens, up close and personal, and edited in Lightroom. Handheld, as usual, and taken when I got up early for my Dewy Gemstones shoot.

Is it just me, or does that leaf look like a really weird tongue?!

Getting up early really pays dividends. I must try it, when … I have a large number of ways to complete that sentence!

LOL agreed! Doesn’t happen very often here either. And usually it’s just to catch a flight so no time for snapping!

Great images! I usually like mornings, but it’s been just a bit too cold to venture out here.

Wonderful. Macro is not my strong suit so I’m especially impressed with your talent here. The first and the fourth are my favorites

A great collection of images, Desley. The littlest bugs can sometimes be the most interesting to photograph! And yes, that leaf really does looks like tongue. ๐Ÿ™‚ I keep intending to get up early and photograph but the only times I’ve managed to be awake, the weather has been foul!

Thank you! I almost left the tongue photo out but the bug is good in that shot lol. Early is tough and foul weather doesn’t help!

Thank you again lovely. Such amazing comments! These bugs were cool and don’t worry there were a lot of blurry throwaway shots as well ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ewwww…I don’t like bugs, but I love your shots of bugs. And I’m sitting here laughing at your tongue comment because it surely does! I love my 60 mm Canon Macro lens. I actually used it for some portrait photography. They are very versatile lenses ๐Ÿ™‚

LOL I almost didn’t use the photo because I thought the tongue leaf was too icky! Yes! They are fantastic portrait lenses – so smooth and creamy. Just have to step back a little ๐Ÿ˜‰

I used my nifty fifty for the first shoot I tried. They just didn’t have the sharpness and clarity as when I used the Macro lens. The model I worked with had perfect skin which made it easier ๐Ÿ™‚

Gotta love pre-made soft focus skin ๐Ÿ˜‰
Actually I use a micro 4/3 camera so the 60mm macro on mine is 120mm equivalent. And therefore my 45mm portrait is 90mm equivalent. They’re both beautiful for portrait. The 60 is a stunner but the 45 lets me get closer. ๐Ÿ˜‰
