Melbourne Street Art 1

I am settling in to my new city and what an intriguing and colourful city it is. I’ve been here many times before as a visitor, but it’s even more amazing as a resident.

Recently, Michelle from This Melbourne Life presented “3 of the best ย … Laneways in Melbourne“, filling in for me as I usually write a “3 of the best” for Perelin Colors every second month. I asked Michelle to give her insight into the best laneways in Melbourne – these laneways are famous for the street art that adorns almost every surface within them. Thank you Michelle for such a great post – be sure to go check it out.

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to be invited by fellow blogger Julie Powell to go with her and her husband to The Melbourne Midsummer Faerie Rade (more photos to come on that later). Before the Rade, we had lunch and then they took me to visit some of Melbourne’s famous laneways. The shot above shows a few of the guys freshly painting some new work.

I love the vibrancy of the colours – even though each piece is quite haphazard, it looks cohesive in some way. I’m fascinated and I know that I will return often.

As you may have guessed, I now have the internet!! Finally!! So excited to be back online. I have a little collection of photos to share and I am looking forward to coming around and seeing what you’ve been up to.

Yay! You’re back with us ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to seeing Melbourne through your eyes as you get acquainted with it. How’s the tennis atmosphere? We usually go down each year but couldn’t make it this year unfortunately, we love it!

They were all out and about in their blue shorts on the weekend. It’s really hot though, so I feel for the players.
Thanks! Very happy to be back. X

Thanks Lisa. We are settling in. A stormy day today but it’s very different to the violent Brisbane storms. I’ve resorted to physio to try to fix my alignment issues ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ah a fellow street art lover; my time in Melbourne had me stuck in glass stumps being terminally boring so I never found any. Next time. Meanwhile London will have to do…

Sorry I have to ask what glass stumps are!? Yes street art is definitely a love of mine, the colour and messages are so wild and varied. I was only in London for a very short time so did not get time to explore.

Sorry they are dull office towers with uniform flat sides of glass. I sat in too many meetings pretending to be important. If you have a few mins to search Street art on my blog you’ll find some examples to tempt you back.

Welcome back to the internet where all the lost souls gather. ๐Ÿ™‚
Back in 1996 there was this Norwegian dude that predicted in the printed press that the internet thing would die out: “it’s just a flop”, he proclaimed. Two years later he said the same thing and also claimed that the use of it had already stagnated.
Fast forward twenty years and here we are: The internet hasn’t quite died yet, people are still using it from time to time. We did however, momentarily lose Desley, but now she’s back!

These are absolutely sensational! I’ve been browsing through this week’s Vibrant pictures in this week’s photo challenge and I’ve seen nothing there as vibrant as these ones.

I know the feeling! I bet you have another from the day you can share and link in – but to be honest your work is all pretty vibrant. That’s one of the things that is so striking about it.
