Hello and welcome to week 4 of Contemplation, where we share our responses to a prompt from my Kikki.K A Sentence a Day journal.
I’m really enjoying writing these responses each week and reading the responses from you guys as well. The open and self-reflective nature of everyone’s posts is humbling to read and I’m thankful to everyone who has joined in via responses or comments.
To join in, just tag your post Contemplation and link back to this post so that we can find it and I can link yours below for others to read as well.
Onward to this week’s prompt:
Name one thing you should do more often.
There are a number of things I should do more often – drink water, get up early, go to bed early, read, stretch, eat salad, all those not-so-exciting, but should-be-done-to-make-your-life-healthier things.
But let’s not talk about those. Those are not particularly fun. Or interesting. Although I really need to start going to bed early, I’m definitely not as young as I used to be and late nights just don’t work the same way as they did before.
I seem to have adopted a weekday routine – get up, walk Gidget, have breakfast, shower, dress, go to work, work, come home, walk Gidget, make dinner, have dinner, watch tv, hang out with social media, go to bed.
Work is usually finishing quite late, especially if I tram home, and by the time I’m back from walking GG, it’s around 7:30 or even 8pm. Which makes going to bed early a very difficult prospect. You know… life gets in the way.
So what don’t I do often enough? I know that I don’t take time to work on my personal plans. I wrote recently in a Contemplation post about what I would do if I knew I couldn’t fail. And that’s what I should be doing more often – I should be working on that plan to start a business, developing the skills that I need, organising all the things that need to be organised.
Actually, I have started looking into what I need to do, so I am working on it, slowly but I’m not nearly spending enough time on it. The next step is to unpack my spare room. When I moved in, we just put all the non-urgent boxes into the spare room, which is my office. And then I closed the door to that room and I barely ever look in there.
So something else that I need to do more often is more unpacking! That was my goal for March – get my office into shape so that I can set things up the way they need to be for my courses, my plans, my ideas. So far, I haven’t come close to achieving the unpacking goal, but there’s an extra long weekend coming up, so let’s see if I can do it then!
What should you be doing more often?
