Five Minutes with Blue Flowers and a Kitten – RegularRandom

I took my camera out yesterday when I walked Gidget but I didn’t take many photos unfortunately. However, I did happen about this kitten – it was quite a surprise because he was at eye-level, in a garden that was up a short flight of stairs above the pavement.

I was originally drawn to the little blue flowers, but the kitten stole the show.

But of course, I did manage to get some shots of the flowers as well. He was fascinated by my camera, seemed to be mesmerised but also a little afraid. He held his ground though, and watch me shoot the flowers.

And well, it just wouldn’t be me, if I didn’t get in super close and change up the editing a little, now would it? I was happy to see that I can still get a pretty sharp shot, even with a stupid torn up shoulder!

I only took one lens with me and this time is was my 30mm macro lens (60mm equivalent) – much smaller and lighter than the 60, but not as good in my opinion – I reviewed the two of them here.

So this is my RegularRandom for this week. Don’t forget the rules!

  • choose a subject or a scene
  • spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
  • try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
  • have fun!
  • tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post

Looking forward to seeing your RegularRandom shots too!

Desley–your flower photos/edits always amaze me, but you know I am smitten with the kitten.

Good that you are using a smaller, lighter lens, Desley…look after that shoulder and don’t go lugging the 60mm around…..

what a handsome fella………..and the flowers are super cute too. I know you prefer to 60mm, but I think the subtle softness adds to the images here.

Thanks hun. I did go low on the clarity for most of these.

He’s definitely a sweetie, but I also like the blue daisies which look like Felicia or Kingfisher daisies if you want to know. Which you probably don’t. I had some in my Cape Town garden and love the colour. Take it easy with that shoulder now. No putting stress on it!!

Thank you!! They are pretty with their intricate yellow centres aren’t they. Yes I did want to know! Thank you! I’ve had so many offers of help with the shoulder issue so I shouldn’t ever have to stress it thankfully 😊

A totally charming post. Hard to beat flowers and kitten. Your shoulder has done nothing to diminish your skill. I hope the pain isn’t too excruciating. Do you have any respite?

Thank you! I got some decent painkillers from the doctor but there’s nothing they can do besides surgery it seems. So now I just have to wait until I can get it done. A few more weeks now.

I have those blue flowers in a pot but wish I had the kitten too – love the colours but the monochrome kitten is divine

This little one is so sweet, and the flowers are adorable.
Good to hear that you’re not carrying heavy weight lenses, even if that it’s not a preferred one. Stay the course. When is the surgery?

Thanks hun. I’m probably not going to take any more photos for a while. It was a bit painful. I think I’ve worked out November 21. Will book it tomorrow.

Yes, better not. Just post what you already have. Is editing also hurting you?
I was going to add you to a challenge but gave up to not disturb you.
Good to hear it’s scheduled. Fingers and toes crossed.

Yes editing for an extended time can get painful but I try to just spend no more than 30 mins at a time. The new painkillers are helpful. I do have 22 “The Flowers of Brunswick East” posts scheduled, one every second day. It’s just the days in between that I work on separately. Xx

Scheduling was a good move, so perhaps you may want to post a warning that you won’t be replying to comments for a while, so people don’t start a search party for you! LOL

Hahha true! Yes I will let people know when I take some time off. Probably not until the surgery.
