Five Minutes with an Orchid – RegularRandom

This gorgeous white moth orchid (Phalaenopsis) was a post-surgery gift from some of my close friends at work. It is so pretty, I love it. It sits on the side table by my couch and its the first thing you see when you walk into my apartment.

So, it seems appropriate for a RegularRandom treatment with my macro lens.

The back side of the this orchid has pink tones, it’s really lovely.

Here are the RegularRandom rules, if you would like to join in with us.

  • choose a subject or a scene
  • spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
  • try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
  • have fun!

The pink tones are a surprise–so pretty! How is your shoulder coming along, Desley?

Thanks Lois! It’s coming along well. They warned me that it would take quite a while, and it is – frustratingly so – but I had a good visit with the physiotherapist last week and he is very happy with my progress, I’ve doubled my range of movement which is a very good sign. Still no strength in the shoulder and most of the arm, but it’s coming along with the exercises. Thank you for thinking of me x.

Beautiful shots. love the soft blush of pink, I adore orchids, but can never seem to keep them alive 😦

Thanks Julz. I have one from a year ago which we have resurrected. It looks great, so we will see if it flowers again. This white one is still flowering and still looks like these photos, so fingers crossed!

the white backdrop gives this such a lighter and almost airy feel – these are some of the prettiest orchid photos I have seen (and hope your healing goes well)

Hope your shoulder is rehabbing well – recovery and recuperation is such a long and slow process. Sending you positive thoughts and hugs!

Gorgeous! I, sadly, cannot keep orchids – my mother, by contrast, was marvellous with them!

That white background is perfect to bring out the delicacy of this beauty. And it’s so good to know recovery is proceeding satisfactorily, if not miraculously!

Thank you. I have a wall that I use for most of my photos at home. Sometimes I put up a little backdrop but I liked the simplicity of white here. I feel like my shoulder has improved a lot in be last week yay!

My wall needs repainting before I’d dare photograph against it!

LOL I understand! That’s one of the reasons I repainted my house in Brisbane!

I’m fine, although my house plumbing isn’t! I’m glad all’s well with you, apart from excessive busyness (protect that shoulder!) and very sorry about your boss.
