Despair

2015_Sydney-14

As the day draws to a close and the light begins to disappear, he climbs his rock and waits just near the edge. He shakes his head. What is he waiting for? His love has gone. Not coming back. No chance. But he can’t stop. This is their spot. This is where they found each other, where it all started, where he truly started to live.

But now it’s over, and it’s done. There’s no reason anymore, there’s nothing left.

Is this bit of writing too dark? I like the melancholy feeling of this photo. It was actually a great evening with two of my closest pals. This was the end of the day, with very little light remaining and we were late for dinner. I saw this rock and stopped in my tracks as we were making our way back up to the car. My friend knew that I wanted a photo, so he ran up to the top of the rock and I was able to get a few shots before the light completely disappeared.

As you probably know, I’ve been nominated by afairymind over at Storyteller’s Abode to participate in the 5 Photos / 5 Stories Black and White Photo Challenge. She posted some great photos with some very compelling stories to accompany them – please check them out! This is day 3 for me.

I’d like to invite Nalinki at Angles and Views to join this challenge. She takes some lovely creative pictures from a glorious part of the world. Please take a look at her work.

The rules of the 5 Photos-5 Stories challenge are:
1) To post a photo every day for 5 days
2) To write a story to accompany your photo for 5 days (this can be fiction or non-fiction, a page, a paragraph or a poem)
3) To nominate a different person each day

I also submit this photo to Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic – please come along and share your photos, and see some great work by other photo101 die hards.

Oh, that’s beautifully depressive… A great match to the photo. And a great choice of black and white.

The photo fits perfectly with the thrill of the story, the possibility of tragedy; but it’s not a dark post. I love it. I knew you got inspiration from Mara! LOL.

Ah yes, just short visits, but they’re usually just sentimental x.

I think it’s a good start, but I don’t think the prose is detailed enough yet to match the photo. Nice shot!

Brilliant photo, Delsey. And the story may be dark but it fits perfectly with the picture. Black and white prompts really do inspire melancholy writings… 🙂 Well done.
