Regular Random – Five Minutes at the End of a Shoot.

Some time ago, Julie and I did a concept shoot (you should visit Julie’s post, she tells the story of some funny events that took place during the shoot) with two models and it was a blast, the images are amazing. I’ve wanted to share them with you for a while now, but haven’t found the time.

Today though instead, I’ll share with you how I spent the final five minutes, after almost 3 hours of shooting with these two gorgeous girls.

Julie had the black backdrop set up, and we had the smoke machine at the ready, so I took 5 minutes to get these shots.

First, the beautiful and cheeky Meellissa Jade:

And then, the captivating Jes Ami:

Lots of fun, and beautiful girls, I can’t wait to work with them again. And I won’t have to! They’re the models in our Conceptual Portraiture Workshop next weekend 🙂

I will share more photos from the shoot over the next week or so, when I get time to write them up.

Until then, a quick recap of the Regular Random rules:

  • choose a subject or a scene
  • spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
  • try to see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
  • have fun!
  • tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post

Happy snapping 🙂

So very different from cupcakes, pencils and flowers. You can obviously turn your camera to anything! An ignorant question. How would define a concept shoot? I can’t quite tie it in with my concept of concept.

Thanks Meg. I guess I would say it’s more on the process prior to shooting. It’s coming up with a scene beforehand, planning it out, and ultimately portraying a story with your photo. It’s deliberately trying to invoke an emotional response in the viewer. These were behind the scenes photos (kind of). I’ll show the results in another post soon.
