Photo101(2): Streets Where We Live.

Greetings! It was a long day at work today and I didn’t finish until late, so my photography happened in the dark. Quite a challenge. Since I was at my parents’ place, I dragged my Dad out with me to hold the light 🙂

I got a few shots at the intersection near my parent’s home but I wasn’t overjoyed with the image quality in such darkness, so I have chosen one of my favourite images from  a recent trip to Boston. I took this photo using one of the art filters on my Olympus OMD EM5, before I knew how to use manual mode. I was smart enough to shoot raw images as well as the jpegs, so I thought I would use this challenge to experiment with the skills I have learnt in editing. The image at the top of this post is the new image. Here is the original, using the line art mode on my camera:

I still love the Line Art image, it’s a very cool feature, one that I don’t play with so much anymore. Perhaps I’ll re-visit the art filters over this month long challenge.

Here are the photos from the intersection tonight – I decided I should include them, otherwise I’m cheating! I was driving to my parents’ house for dinner and looking at the world a little differently for this challenge, and I noticed the “Wild Animals” sign, for the first time. So we drove down (so that I could use my car headlights) and got snapping.  A few walkers stopped, thinking we had lost something and cars were slowing down to take a look. I’m glad I did it – I know I need to work on my night photography skills!
