It’s been a while since I’ve done a post specifically for Lucile’s Rehab Clinic over at bridging lacunas. I dedicate today’s photo to my beautiful mum, whose birthday it is today. I’ve just come home from dinner with the family – I love my mama, she is my rock and my role model.

We had a big rainstorm yesterday afternoon, heavy and windy, but over in about 40 minutes. I wanted to try capturing the lovely water droplets and noticed that my frangipani tree is starting to flower.

I couldn’t resist showing you the black and white image, I love it. It was taken with my Olympus OMD EM5, handheld with my 60mm macro lens at f/4.0, 1/1250s and ISO200 – yes! I remembered to turn down my ISO 🙂 🙂

      It’s lovely. When I bought my house, it was just a single stick in my front garden and very out of place. We transplanted it to the backyard and gave it some love (not much, because I’m not a very good gardener) and now it has blossomed into a beautiful tree, I love it. My dad told me that the frangipani is the flower of my hometown.

          Yesterday I thought I would never be well again, SUCH. A drama queen, but today was good. Had a good sleep last night and my back is much better today. Thank you x.

              Oh sorry I misunderstood. The cold is gone yay! But yes my back seems to go between a day of being ok and a day of fiery pain. It was great yesterday, and I’m pretty sore right now. But it’s probably because when it feels great, I do too much, then pay for it the next day. Anyway, heat pack and some paracetamol should sort me out x.

                i would have been surprised if your back had gotten better, if it had i would need to know what you did lol. But all the same, its horrible I know and I hope it does indeed get better soon 🙂 At least the cold has gone, one less thing to make you feel bleh! Have you tried an epsom salt bath? That helps too, just a cup full and not too hot water, soak for 10 mins , drink lots of water though x

    Always love a good frangipani and really like yours in black and white. Even though they always look beautiful in colour with the beautiful green leaves for some reason black and white just pops too. Aren’t we lucky they are coming out now and hopefully the rains wont spoil them too much. 🙂

      Well I had no idea so I just went and checked:
      The name, frangipani, comes from the Italian nobleman, Marquis Frangipani, who created a perfume used to scent gloves in the 16th century. When the frangipani flower was discovered its natural perfume reminded people of the scented gloves, and so the flower was called frangipani. Another version has it that the name, frangipani, is from the French frangipanier which is a type of coagulated milk that Plumeria milk resembles.
