Just trying something a little different today.
This is the photo that I wanted to use for Justine’s Eclectic Corner #6, where she posted a lovely piece of a story as a prompt for us to submit some writing or a photograph in response. One part of her writing struck me – she wrote about an easel which was devoid of colour, waiting for some splash or other to brighten it up. So, this photo is what I came up with. I thought the plant was rather nice, so decided to desaturate a section to look like a big brushstroke or two. It’s a feature I had not found before in LightRoom so it was a learning experience for me. Justine – my apologies for being so late to the party!
So, since I missed it, I am checking this in to Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic where you can share your work with other photography enthusiasts. As usual, I used my trusty Olympus OMD EM5 camera, with the 60mm macro lens (120mm equivalent) at f/2.8, 1/500s and ISO200.

I can’t decide if it looks like the plant is slowly dying or slowly coming back to life. I love it, though! It’s different, but really neat!

Thanks hun. I didn’t even consider that. You’re right, it could go either way!

Thank you 🙂
It’s called a Radial Filter – a little circle under the histogram. It’s a circular tool that you can use to change the settings for the area that you drag it over.

No, it’s not. Yours is with story telling. So I will either combine the two or just post separately.

I really like the picture, selective black and white and colour are not usually my favorite images, but the randomness of the strokes add something different.

It was taken while I was at the beach, in the resort gardens. A great place – I’d love to go there and not have to work ;P

You photographers are amazing! That’s a brilliant shot Desley, although some of it goes way above me…. still, I love to look at photography blogs and try to learn something new. 🙂
