My dear Justine at Eclectic Odds n Sods has been hosting a fabulous series of challenges for us to get involved in, share our words and pictures, thoughts and ideas. If you haven’t stopped by, please do, it’s always a treat.
This Eclectic Corner Challenge #7 is called Street Life, Photography and Writing and asks us to submit something with the theme of street life. I took this photo while out doing my January Changing Seasons shoot, and quite like the line art filter that I was able to apply with my camera. It brings out the textures in the bridge and in the looping freeway entrance in the background as well.
In submitting this photo also to Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic, I will tell you that I used my Olympus OMD EM5 camera with the 17mm (35mm equivalent) lens at f/4.0, 1/500s and ISO640. The camera includes a set of art filters which you can apply when taking the photo. I used to use the bracketing technique, which applies all filters to the same photo, so that you can see what works for you.
See you soon!

Now that’s a nice street life and good weather. One can tell considering the amount of flesh on view and I am jealous that I’m not there on one of those bikes. Now where does the bridge lead to? Anywhere exciting?
I love the compact urban background that is peeking through quite a contrast to what the foreground depicts.
Thank you for bringing this to Eclectic Corner street life I’m loving the variety xx

Thanks Justine! It’s the city of Brisbane across the river. I’ve taken the photo from the Southbank side, near our Gallery of Modern Art and Science Museum. The bridge is a joint walking / cycling Boardwalk (cyclists please keep left!).

I feel the warmth…I’m so jealous.
You captured the spirit so well. Great shot. Beautiful cycle path. What a gorgeous city to live in.
I’m counting the days to finally go riding my bike. I’ve not yet even used my city bike this year, let alone the racing one.
Xxx

I just joined Photo101 Rehab and I see that we are using the same camera. Maybe we can share some tips and experiences. I am fairly new to using the manual settings and the daily challenges in Photo101 are helping. Trying to improve my skills before a trip to Africa in September.

Absolutely! I loved doing Photo101, so useful. I did a photo walk class here in Brisbane a few months after I got my camera before I went on a cruise to the South Pacific. There are a few people here with the EM5 or newer models. Welcome to the club 😀
