This post is for the Available Light joint feature between Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic and Nalinki’s Angles and Views. This month, she asks us to experiment with light effects! The photos here were all taken more than a year ago. My photography skills have improved since then, so I would really like to try these techniques again some day, but for now, take a look at these and see what you think.
First, using a slow shutter speed to see car taillights and headlights blurring on the motorway:
Next, painting with light – the flower is done with a torch (flashlight), the other two are done with sparklers:
I’d like to have a go at actually using zoom to enhance the photo – see Nalinki’s original post for more on that – she has taken some fantastic shots with light effects!! If I have time this month, I will try to do it š

DJ, I like all of them and commend you (although without surprise) for making the first shots as a beginner. The only but is the lack of more colors.
The second gallery is gorgeous and my preference. It is fun, colorful and wow!

Thank CG. I appreciate that. I tried some more last night from my hotel window so we’ll see how they turned out when I get time to see them.
