I Finally Found a Dandelion!

2015_Garden-10Good grief I’ve been wanting to photograph dandelions for ages. I thought they must not exist near me, but last weekend I found one trapped within the apple blossoms in my front garden. It turns out that I’ve photographed one before when it was in the yellow flower form – I never knew what this flower was until I googled it today.

I grabbed it out and took these photos in the early evening light – one hand holding the dandelion, one taking the shots, all wavering in the breeze – sometimes the waverings were synchronised ๐Ÿ™‚

I have two galleries for you, my apologies for the large number of shots, I was so happy to find this little specimen! The first gallery is in black and white.

This second gallery is different shots to those above and I’ve also left them in colour – I quite like the pink roses blurred in the background.

Finally, I had to use my favourite iPhone app (Typic) and add some words and a teensy bit of colour to one of the images.

All photos were taken with my Olympus OMD EM5 with the 60mm macro lens.

Very nice. I always like dandelions. As kids we would put them under our chin to see who liked butter if it reflected yellow. What kids kids of.

Love the quote and as a child I used to call these dandelion clocks and blow the seeds off chanting 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock etc till they were all gone…

Desley, these are all gorgeous, but I absolutely love the color images. The dandelions just jump off the screen against the softly colored backdrop! So well done. You’ve got some mad macro skills!!

This post made me laugh out loud. Dandelions are a total nuisance here. They grow everywhere, and they are in highest concentration where I don’t want them to grow. That’s why I found it so funny to read about your excitement in finding the “elusive flower”. Beautiful shots!

Writing of my admiration and respect for your skills, and sensibility as a photographer, might have become my recurring comment, that you might be tired of. but ‘fur gawd’s sayke’, as the ancient Scottsh highlander would say, how couldn’t I repeat myself endlessly? You’re also unstoppable.
Jaw dropped. Me bowing with respect.
