RegularRandom – Five Minutes with a Silver Pear

Welcome again to #RegularRandom, where we choose and object or scene and spend just five minutes shooting it, trying to see it from multiple angles, learning about how light interacts with the subject.

It’s fun, although can be tricky to come up with new things to shoot. We’d love you to join in – just tag your post with regular random and link back to this post so we can find you.

This week, it’s a silver pear that my friend Agatha gave me for Christmas. Usually, it sits on my desk and I keep tiny paperclips inside it.

Today, for this shoot, I took it out to the ledge of my balcony and shot it for five minutes with my Olympus OMD EM5 with the 30mm macro lens.

What do you think? Will you join in?

I love this five minutes serie! Do you really only take five minutes? Because that’s extra awesome, gives me some motivation that you don’t have to take hours to photograph. Just pick up the camera and go!

Especially love the third one, from the top. Makes it a bit abstract.

Thank you!!!! Yes, just five minutes, that’s the rule. It takes me longer to do the editing actually 🙂
Thanks I like a bit of abstract 🙂

    Beautiful photo & aesthetically pleasing.
The photo would also look great in B&W.

Thank you! Is there any one in particular you think would look good in b&w?

        Actually the very first one.
With the focus on the pear in the front.

Love this series! Using one reflective object was inspired as you’ve given us so much hinted-at context and that lovely distorted glimpse of the photographer.

Thank you! Yes I’m glad it was so distorted lol.

Different. I may have to start looking at something other than flowers…

Thanks Ruth. It really does make you think. I had no idea how difficult the surface of this pear would be to photograph. Will you join us?

Great shots. Great idea too. 5 minutes, but perhaps I’ll need 10 minutes thinking time first. 😉
