A couple of weekends ago, one of the photography groups that I’m a member of, organised a balloon bursting event. They’ve run it a couple of times and it fills up first, but this time I managed to get a spot. And I am so glad I did!

It’s an exercise in fast-shutter speeds and pinpoint timing.

Here are some of my favourite shots:

  1. This’d have to be your best amongst bests! As soon as I saw the title of the post I knew I was in for a treat, but not how much of a one. The visuals are marvellous and diverse. Were the darts fired into the airborne balloon? That’s pinpoint aiming.

  2. That is SO cool! I love all the photos! I have always wanted to try this since I saw it in some photo magazine. My favourite is the 9th photo with the pink balloon, if I“m counting right. Which shutter speed did you use, if I may ask? Was getting the settings right complicated? Did you use a tripod?

    1. Thanks so much! We just started with fastest possible shutter and high speed continuous burst shooting. So I started at 1/4000s but I preferred those later shots at 1/800 or 1/1000 – the water is a bit smoother at those slightly slower settings. It’s not too hard, and lots of fun, give it a try! Thanks again.
