Hello and welcome to #RegularRandom.

This week, I’m publishing everything entirely from my iPhone. All the photos were taken with my phone in about 4 minutes. Then I spent about 30 minutes editing the photos with various apps on my phone. I used the mobile WordPress app to write up this post as well.

A quick recap of the #RegularRandom rules:

  • choose a subject or a scene
  • spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
  • try to see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
  • have fun!
  • tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post

A couple of weeks ago, one of the photo challenges from The Daily Post was Distraction and I wrote about my distraction being the sky and posted some photos of the view from my balcony here in Melbourne. The other major distraction for me is editing photos on my phone. I love to play with the light and colour using the mobile apps and seeing what I can create. It was how I used to pass my time on airplanes (before I started writing).
So today, I thought I would combine those together for you. This is what I came up with:

Photos App edits
Photos App & Afterlight App
Photos App & Camera+ App edits
Photos App edits
an original, unedited shot
Photos App and Camera+ App edits
Photos App edits
Photos App edits
Photos App & Pixlr App edits
Photos App & Typic App edits
Photos App & Tiny Planets App edits

It was a lot of fun and also a little bit nostalgic for me. I haven’t done this in ages. These are all separate photos, by the way.
I hope you enjoyed this and I really hope I’ve inspired you to try some mobile edits, it’s a lot of fun. Also, I’ve seen some people who aren’t happy with the WP app on their phones. I’ve been using it for three years now, off and on. I usually use a computer, but sometimes I need to use my phone, other times I’m really too lazy to get up off the couch, or I don’t want to disturb the puppy in my lap. The app (for iOS) has been dramatically improved over those three years. The only thing I would like to see added is the ability to add your photos in a tiled mosaic like you can in the web version.

If you do use the mobile app for your whole post, you can use the tag #wponthego – you can see what other people can achieve using the mobile app by following the tag.

Looking forward to your #RegularRandom!
