While waiting for a takeaway smoothie at a little cafe in Auckland (The Botanist), we browsed their little attached florist. I was quite fascinated by this weird pink flower. I think it’s some kind of Protea, but I’m sure someone can correct me here.
Anyway, five minutes of shooting makes for a good RegularRandom – again with my 30mm macro lens.
Would you like to join in the RegularRandom brigade? Here’s how:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post
Looking forward to seeing your shots.

Beautiful. “Some kind of protea” sums it up perfectly, Desleyjane 😉

Only you could make a protea look delicate. I love the way you spent waiting time.

These look just like the King Protea we have here, except mine are more a creamy colour than a soft pink…perhaps a slightly different variety? Mine are called King White, I adore them and when in flower, they last for ages

Wow, I have never seen such a plant/flower. So strange… But beautiful.

Proteas are unusual flowers and not my favourites to be honest, I find them too rigid, but how like you to find one in pink! A pretty baby pink at that. Must be one of your Australian proteas as I cannot remember seeing that colour in South Africa.

Never seen a protea this colour DJ but it is so you… I’m back with a regular random this week. Photos took 5 minutes but post took much longer. Are you still doing this challenge?
