Christmas Tea with Justine (Rehab19)

For Justine’s Tea Time #2, I am bringing some Christmas goodies made by my Mama for Christmas. She makes these every year and they are delicious (except the fruit mince pies, I don’t like them, but my family tells me they are scrumptious). We have the fruit mince pies, chocolate crackles, apricot balls, rum balls and my favourite – caramel chews. Mum and I found some pretty tea cups for the shoot and she tells me that they are over 30 years old. They are very fine, with gold trim, just beautiful.

We had a quiet Christmas Day today, just the 4 of us. I came and stayed with my family last night and we spent the day together. Scrambled eggs and Christmas ham for breakfast, then this snack you see in this post, then a late lunch of prawn and mango salad, followed by homemade fish and chips – yum!

Tomorrow is Boxing Day, and we will be at my house with my best friend and her lovely family as well and we will do the traditional roast meats then.

Anyway, for Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab, these photos were taken with my Olympus OMD EM5 camera, with my new Christmas present attached – a 45mm M. Zuiko prime lens (f1.8). What a dream! The other technicalities are in the photo captions.

I’ve included a couple of portrait shots of my dear brother, Darren, to show off this lens, as well as one of his Christmas presents from me, and of course, Miss Gidget 🙂

Merry Christmas & a Joyful Boxing Day.

The food looks amazing and I will have the mince pies if you don’t want them. Lovely portrait pic 🙂 and pink tea Cosey hehe! I know how excited you were to get your lens. Ooo I’m so glad you liked it. We had a lovely time reminiscing over the cups – they were gifts that mum gave to my nana and my grandma and they’ve come back to her now that they’ve passed on. All four of us remembered funny things about our grans.
And the pink tea cosy! I found it at a little stall at the hospital one day when I was visiting a customer. A lovely old lady makes them to raise money for the children’s ward. Mum loves it! Merry Christmas 😊

That’s so especially lovely that having tea, bringing out the china made you all reminisce over relatives etc, that is really really lovely, gave me a big smile 😀 I don’t have a tea cosy, that is a very cute one, something to add to my list me thinks for next year hehe. xxx

I just had lunch a few moment ago, and after viewing all those goodies, I’m hungry again. Composition, sharpness, shapes, angles…everything is perfect. You are getting better and better. Would you like to open a photography school? Count me in!

Merry Christmas Desley, to you and all your loved ones.

    Cheers,

    Omar.-

Just spotted the gnomes, for some reason I find them oddly scary

LOL – they could look a little menacing I guess! Don’t worry, they aren’t so scary in real life. And they are shorter than knee height. X

That new lens has done a terrific job and of course the hand and eye behind the camera to create the composition is a major part of it. That portrait of Miss G is just stunning those eyes are mesmerising, how could you not fall in love with her. Best wishes for 2015 DJ
