It’s intriguing what a macro shot can show you. On my recent walk through my garden, I took these two photos. I find them to be quite strange and almost alien-like structures. I think they make great freaky additions to Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic.

This first one is a small pest with a milky sap – you can see the sap coming out of the stalk. I rather liked these little bundles surrounding the stalk. I think they are going to unfurl into more stalks and flowers, but I like to think they are mini pumpkins, LOL.

I used my Olympus OMD EM5 with the 60mm lens, set at f/11 to try to get more of the plant in focus. As a result, I had to use a very slow shutter speed (1/15s), which was pretty tricky, hand-held.

Alien Claws.

This second photo is from my Frangipani tree, these little stalks grow out everywhere, with the potential of becoming a flowering stalk. Here is a previous post with photos of my Frangipani flowers. This one was taken in much brighter conditions, at f/14 and 1/100s.

Please come visit us in the clinic, we love company!

  1. Wow! Your photos captured Mother Nature meets science fiction! Incredible shots! I love the black and white too… Makes it look like a movie from the 1950’s…. Return of the Evil Martian or something like that!
    Cheers!
