It’s going to be a rainy Easter this year. In the last 3 days, we’ve had 170mm of rain (6.7 inches) and it is forecasted to continue for the next few days. This morning, I went out in the drizzly rain with my camera to capture some droplets on my jade plant. I’ve had this plant for a very long time, it’s been through a lot, including toppling over in it’s pot whenever it gets a bit windy! I’ve moved it to a more sheltered location and put it in a sturdier pot and it is thriving.
I used my 60mm macro lens (120mm equivalent) and shot handheld at ISO200. I have kept the aperture open wide (f/2.8 to f/4.0). Consequently, I’ve set the shutter speed quite quick (1/100s or faster).
These photos are for Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab Clinic – perhaps you can visit some of the inhabitants over this long weekend 🙂
I probably won’t post very much over this long weekend, but I will check in occasionally. For those of you who celebrate Easter, i wish you a very happy one. If you don’t, I hope you have a lovely long weekend.

I want a macro lens too! Your pictures are lovely but you are completely destroying my dreams of Australia as a place with eternal sunshine!

LOL. Sorry about that. We are in a bit of a wet season at the moment. It often rains at Easter. It’s usually very sunny!!! It’s a great lens 🙂

Really like these photos Desleyjane, I know little of proper photography and the use of various lenses but I like the effect!! I’m coming to Brisbane for a few days after Easter so it can’t rain, I’m hoping for lots of lovely warm sunshine….please….pretty please….

These are beautiful photos! And we have lots of rain here in Brussels, too much, although the heaviest rain (and most prolonged) I remember was the first Summer I spent in Sydney in the first few months of 2008…

Thank you Andy. It’s hasn’t rained much since this morning but I suspect more is around the corner. Sydney almost gets as much rain as us. We both get the crazy storms!

Lots of rain though… But after so much heat it’s quite re-fresh-ing…
Happy Easter my friend!
Enjoy the break, rest, have fun. Say hello to GG and to your parents!
