This is my final post in my Amsterdam series, a fact which makes me very sad 😦
I will have to go back!!!! 🙂
Before I arrived, Lucile warned me that the city turns orange and goes into party mode for King’s Day and what a fantastic coincidence that my work trip to the UK was right before King’s Day in Amsterdam. I flew in the day before and flew out the day after and can I tell you – this city knows how to party.
Lucile and her gorgeous hubby took me out in their boat in the canals into the city amongst the party goers. The atmosphere was amazing – fun-filled but stilled chilled out. As we moved through the canals, Lucile and I were facing the banks, cameras out at the ready and we were like the paparazzi (the good kind!). The people in the streets, seeing a camera, would throw themselves at us, posing, laughing, pointing, dancing. They had a great time, and absolutely so did we.
It was an amazing experience and I am forever grateful to Lucile and her hubby for taking me in and showing me their fantastic city. They were wonderful hosts who made me feel right at home – friends for life.
