Five Minutes with a Pink Posey – RegularRandom

On Friday morning, I stubbornly pulled out my camera to take some photos of this gorgeous pink posey, sent to me by the lovely Lucile, all the way from Amsterdam to Melbourne (courtesy of FlowersAcrossMelbourne which is also FlowersAcrossAustralia).

It’s my first time holding the camera since surgery 10 days prior. It wasn’t easy, but I managed. The shots were all taken pretty much one-handed – thank goodness for 5-axis image stabilisation 😀

The RegularRandom concept is good fun – we just spend five minutes shooting a single subject, without interfering with it. Here are the “official but not official” rules:

  • choose a subject or a scene
  • spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
  • try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
  • have fun!

I’m writing this post live today, rather than scheduling in advance. Shoulder-wise, I feel like I’m getting brighter each day. I still have at least one bad-pain session each day and need to take meds, but, as of today, its on’y been 12 days since surgery. All seems to be going well. I see both the surgeon and the physiotherapist on Wednesday this week, to remove the stitches and to review how things are going. I find the sling both hugely irritating and incredibly supportive – funny how those things work, isn’t it?

….

Gidget just came by for a visit today – it was so nice to see her again. I’m not really up to taking care of her yet, but Tess brought her around for lunch, so she could enjoy some of Grandma’s roast beef. Yes, Mum is still here and is my absolute hero.

I hope you’re all doing well, looking forward to catching up soon.

Such courage and determination, and so beautifully photographed. What is the background? – whatever it is it’s perfect, and perfectly pink. Say hello to your splendid mother. All care and roast beef too! May the pain diminish in gentle leaps and bounds.

Such a lovely gift from your friend and beautifully photographed so you can enjoy it for years to come. Glad to hear things are on the mend, but as has been said before me, don’t rush! I know it is frustrating to be held back – goodness knows the number of times I said to my son ” don’t push that trolley” “stop, don’t pick that up” “are you sure you should be doing that?” I must have driven him crazy! But the home made dinners certainly went a long way in helping him recuperate and I see you Mom is doing the same 😀
Love to you both (and Gidget xx)

Thank goodness for Mum Jude. She was amazing. She left this Monday gone and my best friend flew in Monday night. We missed mum’s cooking for sure. But it was so comforting to have someone here. I’m coming along and it certainly is frustrating to not be able to do things that come so easily usually. But I’m trying my best to stop myself. Mum took Gidget home with her to take care of. I’m going up there this Thursday to spend two weeks with my family for Christmas. Can’t wait. Thanks so much Jude. Xx

I wish you all the best DJ – I think my son missed my cooking once he returned home too! I keep emailing the recipes of the meals he enjoyed 🙂 Have a fab Christmas with the family and relax. Hopefully the warmth will heal you faster and when you get back to Melbourne you’ll be well on the mend.

It is so good to hear from you ‘live’, Desley. I wondered how you were doing. Twelve days post-op is not too long, so I am glad you are feeling as well as you are. Mostly, I am so glad the surgery is behind you so you can heal. Oh, you are a stubborn one–one-handed on the camera! 🙂 Be careful!

Thank you Lois. It’s been really hard but I’m getting there. I feel pretty good, just very tired. Still sore but that’s to be expected. X

Oh my lovely, the flowers are beautifully captured but I’m feeling guilty for having taken you from your resting mode.
I can see you enjoyed it though, and the pics are stunning.
Hope you will be painless after the docs’ visit.
    Take good care.

I absolutely could not resist photographing them. They were divine. I’ve left them drying upside down now and will see how they look when I get back from Christmas. Thank you again my love. Xx
