Busy-ness.

I happened upon this interesting little plant, perhaps a member of the Callistemon family? Such interesting details in this plant. But then I spotted a busy little bee at work.

BrunswickEastFlowers-131

They aren’t super-sharp shots, I was just at 1/200s, but I like them anyway.

Here are a few more shots of the plant, which incidentally was quite a tall bush, or a short tree….

A little difficult to photograph with a funny shoulder as I had to shoot upwards. The bee was about half a metre above my head I’d guess.

Olympus OMD EM5, 60mm macro, technically a Flowers of Brunswick East post, but I had to feature the little bee separately 🙂

PS have you seen my favourite bee photoshoot that I did a couple of years ago? You can see it here

Beeautiul! And I love the detail one you link to too. You’ve really captured the bee doing what bees do.

Sorry to disappoint you, but this is no relation to a callistemon, but a simple Goat willow – Salix caprea – I have a tree in my garden and in spring it is very pretty with these fluffy (male) catkins. In autumn though the leaves just go brown and blow off. True – the bees do love them.

(Your photos are so lovely, especially the one with the bee heading for the pollen) And I’ll shut up now.

Thanks Julz. I’d love to do it again with a tripod but it’s tricky because they’re so erratic.

These are great 🙂 I love bee photos and am in awe of you getting some shots with the bee in flight, especially with your dodgy shoulder.

the willow by an other name is a lure for bees – so glad you had your camera handy for these delightful shots – the clarity makes them all the better

Lovely series of shots, especially the mid flight ones. You did well with a dodgy shoulder and no tripod. What a pretty flower/catkin. I knew it wasn’t a callistomen but didn’t know what it was, do now, thanks to Jude…
