I didn’t even know this was a thing.
For Mother’s Day this year, my new local bakery did a Raspberry Eclair as a special treat and I was lucky enough to get one. I brought it home and popped it in the fridge because I had a bunch of other things to do, but managed to do this shoot after lunch (although I didn’t eat it until after dinner).
I always struggle with which photos to leave out when I do a shoot like this. Some stats for you:
- This shoot took from 2:41pm til 2:46pm (then I took the shot below about 10 minutes later)
- I took 31 photos in total
- I kept 21 of those photos
- It was delicious 😋
It really was delicious – the tartness of the raspberries, the slightly sweet raspberry cream, and the biscuity eclair pastry – so, so good.

So technically this was a RegularRandom shoot, since it was inside 5 minutes.
Would you like to join the RegularRandom crew? Here’s how:
Version 1:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post
Version 2:
- choose an object
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- put the object in different locations to see how the background or surroundings can change the way the object looks
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post
Looking forward to seeing your shots.

Goodness that looks yummy! Not an eclair like I know though, no choux pastry.

Yes I thought so too. I think they’ve just taken the shape. Very biscuit-like pastry. Light and delicious. 😋
